The Reason Why Spa Parties, Couples Massage or Even Getting Your Nails Done can Strengthen your Bond with a Loved One

Spa Parties, Couples Massage and the concept of social spa in general has become extremely trendy recently. But why enjoy a spa experience with a loved one and what particular benefits could that have to any relationship? Instead of generic answers, such as, it's a relaxing experience or a fun experience together, there is actually a scientific reason why you feel closer to someone after experiencing a spa service together.

When it comes to relationships, many of us start to take each other for granted. There are regular stressors in our daily lives, including work, school, and even other relationships. When we come home, we sometimes displace stress from the day towards our loved ones at home. When we go to the office, we associate the stress from work with coworkers at work. Furthermore, when we practice this behavior on a regular basis, we start associating that person with the negative feeling of stress. Thus conditioning us to believe that they are "stressing us out". This can lead to bickering couples, sibling rivalry, uncomfortable relationships with coworkers and strained parent-children relationships. While the source of our stress might not be that specific person, we become conditioned otherwise.

We have often observed couples, siblings, mother-daughters and friends to be happier and closer after experiencing a relaxing massage, facial or mani-pedi session. Through some research, we started understanding that it was not simply the aromatherapy that was causing for a mellow environment. Most spa services, such as Massage, Facial, Manicure, Pedicure, require the application of pressure by kneading and rubbing muscles and joints. As a result, large amounts of endorphin are released into the blood stream. According to endorphin studies, endorphin enhances the immune system, decreases pain, stress, and can even decrease aging. They were also found to have an euphoric after affect. When we undergo a stress relieving and euphoric experience with a specific someone, we are much more likely to identify them as a positive addition to our lives. Thus bickering couples feel closer after a couple massage and a nagging family member might seem a lot friendlier after a mani-pedi session together.

So next time you have an unhappy significant other, family member or even a group of friends with internal turmoil, ensure to suggest this idea. Plan a spa trip with your significant other, host a spa party for your group of friends, or even mini massages at your location of work, and experience the difference it might make in your most important relationships in life.
