5 Tips to Plan a Wedding if you are from Out of Town

You are planning your wedding day and one thing you know for sure is that you want your closest friends and family to be part of your special day. You want to share all of the memories that you will create on that day with all of the people that are closest to your heart. The problem though is that you moved away from where you grew up and left all these people behind. You live several states away and now realize that you want to go back to where you came from and have your wedding there. This way you know all of your favorite people will be there joining in the celebration.

Here are 5 tips to consider when planning an out of state wedding:

  1. It would probably be a good idea to hire a wedding planner near your wedding's location. The benefits of having a professional wedding planner are so many. They will know how to navigate the area well and they will be your unbiased voice and he/she will make sure that all of your wishes are honored.
  2. Schedule a time to travel and coordinate it with your wedding planner so that you can go and visit all the different vendors. Once you have decided on the vendors make sure you have a final copy of the signed contract for your file. Your planner should also keep copies.
  3. Think about purchasing your wedding dress and wedding band locally to where the wedding will be. You might need last minute fitting so its better to keep these items in a place that you can access easily and quickly.
  4. Plan you hair makeup trial ahead. Do you research and set up Skype interviews with a couple of vendors. Make sure that they have hair and makeup artists that are up to date with the latest trends, that will travel to your venue and that are reputable. If you can, set up a trial for when you know you will be in the area. Research on Pinterest any looks and styles you think will fit your personality best and share those photos with your artist.
  5. It would probably be best to use only credit cards for any payments and deposits. Many credits cards will protect you in case something where to go wrong with a vendor on your wedding day. You could always contact the card's customer service to see what benefits and protection they have to offer.
